The ‘colonized scalp model’ developed on Reconstructed Human Epidermis within a collaborative research project has recapitulated the delicate balance of the 2 principal strains of scalp microbiota: Cutibacterium acnes and Malassezia restricta and their specific biological activity on epidermal structure and microenvironment.
Since long, scalp care has been worth watching and in 2020 new scalp care products have been placed on the market highlighting the potential for the innovation of this category.
In particular, brands choose to differentiate their products with customized formulations to both address structural and functional peculiarities of the scalp and to respond to individualized and ethnic needs.
