VitroScreen has co-sponsored the Seminar entitled ‘Products of plant origin: the border between medicinal products, food supplements and medical devices’, organized by the Italian Scientific Society AFI (Associazione Farmaceutici Industria) in collaboration with the University of Milan.
Marisa Meloni, VitroScreen CEO, gave a presentation entitled: “In vitro tests for the evaluation of safety and efficacy of products of plant origin” that highlights a fundamental shift in pre-clinical studies through:
- the assessment of product safety by using alternative approaches
- the identification of intestinal passage kinetic and negative interactions
- the determination of mechanisms of action allowing the discrimination within the regulatory framework of product categories
- the implementation of in vitro tests in the quality control systems
